The pandemic gave OMC a new drive to bring in more medical and pharmaceutical solutions to Saudi Arabia

BY SHEILA ROZARIO

When the Covid-19 pandemic struck the world in 2020, the medical and pharmaceutical industries were not nearly as prepared as they should have been in terms of supplies and potential treatments.

Nader Abu Muaileq

During that period, Al Ossol Medical Trading Co (OMC) of Saudi Arabia dealt with significant supply chain difficulties. Post-pandemic, OMC CEO Nader Abu Muaileq said it was the company’s goal to be better prepared for another disaster.

Since its establishment in 2008, OMC’s primary mission has been to introduce cutting-edge technology, authorised medications, and specialised pharmaceuticals to the Saudi Arabian market. The company has brought more than a dozen businesses to the Saudi Arabian market, focusing on providing medical and pharmaceutical services.

OMC represents several companies, including a local manufacturer in Saudi Arabia, European corporations in France and Italy, and Asian companies in China and India. They are considered the largest companies in their respective regions.

“We aim to bring the best and latest technology to the region that specialises in the laboratory and medical devices, in the pharma industry and engineering.

“We plan to bring all these companies to our region, and we hope we can form a partnership and go into localisation in the private and public sectors”.

Bringing in China’s Sansure Biotech

Sansure Biotech Inc is an in vitro diagnostic solution provider that integrates diagnostic reagents, instruments and independent clinic laboratory services with its revolutionary gene technology at its heart.

The company is dedicated to becoming a genetic technology supplier, and it is a National Demonstration Centre for the Application of Genetic Testing Technology as well as a National Joint Local Engineering Research Center for Genetic Diagnosis of Infection Diseases and Tumors.

Headquartered in Changsha, the company has established branches or affiliates in nearly 20 cities, including Beijing, Guangzhou, Chongqing, and Xi’an. Sansure built the new Industrial Park in Shanghai to create a production base for precise and intelligent molecular diagnostic systems and is an important international hub.

The company has created several internationally leading core technologies and over 500 items with performance that exceeds the advanced level at home and abroad.

During the Saudi International Pharma Expo in Riyadh, Sansure’s representative introduced its latest technology, the IPonatic Molecule Workstation, to conduct customer point-of-care testing (POCT).

Sansure’s iPonatic S-Q36A POCT rapid-testing device was developed independently by Sansure to overcome the limitations of professional laboratories by integrating nucleic acid extraction, amplification testing, and data processing. – The Health
