MALAYSIA is the first country in Southeast Asia to launch TRAINE, the region’s first-ever human performance centre designed to provide world-class performance training, recovery and rehabilitation services under one roof.
Conceptualised and co-founded by acclaimed physical recovery and rehabilitation expert, Dr Ko Kangmin from South Korea, TRAINE is an institute that caters to all aspects of moulding individuals to function at their optimum capacity every day – from diet and nutrition to physical training and conditioning and even physical therapy and recovery.
With over 28 years of experience and a PhD in Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy, Dr Ko Kangmin, or better known as Sam, is an influential figure in the South Korean sports and wellness industry having successfully pioneered new rehabilitation methodologies which helped Drive the country to international success in the sports arena.
“I first came to Malaysia during the 2017 SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, arriving as a consultant under the invitation of the National Sports Council (MSN). I was involved with athletes from 11 sports disciplines during the Games and saw outstanding success – contributing seven medals (including one gold in Gymnastics) for Malaysia.
“I soon realised that the local rehab and recovery landscape was facing similar issues to South Korea in the 1990s as there were no holistic procedures to manage injuries and improve rehabilitation processes,” said Ko.
In selecting Malaysia as home to the first TRAINE outlet in the region, Ko said, “Our aim is to develop a dedicated human performance institute that supports and spearheads sports medicine and physical therapy in Malaysia.
“Having devoted over 28 years of my life for this area of practice, I trust that the power of sports science and physical therapy combined can benefit people to improve their physical wellness, recover from injuries and manage pain better,” he added.
Female fitness icon and wellness advocate, Nana Al Haleq is also a big fan of TRAINE Malaysia’s unique concept and regards the facility to be a game-changer for both athletes and non-athletes.
“Being an athlete since the age of 10, I have put my body through rigorous training regimes to achieve various fitness goals over the years.
“With TRAINE being a one-stop centre for human performance, I no longer have to worry about finding a therapist, a trainer or a rehabilitation specialist separately,” said Nana.
