Design Village Outlet Mall
Impressively, the outlet mall holds the title of being the largest mall in the northern region.
DVOM continually seeks to accommodate the varied preferences of its visitors, including Muslim tourists. This year, DVOM partnered with ITC for the first time.
“As a very experienced Malaysian operator in the Malaysian market, we have all the facilities that cater to the Muslim population as well as tourists. So, it’s nothing new to us,” said Andy Song, Chief Operating Officer of PE Land.
Since its opening in 2016, the mall has developed an in-depth understanding of the local market and necessities. It has become standard practice for the mall to provide Muslim-friendly amenities such as halal dining options and prayer facilities. Song sees its partnership with ITC as a natural fit, given its expertise and alignment with the market.
DVOM aims to increase its visibility among international tourists, as there is a growing influx of Muslim tourists from the Middle East. This presents a timely opportunity for the mall to promote its Muslim-friendly amenities and market itself as a Muslim-friendly destination. Evidently, this segment is becoming increasingly important in the travel market.
Through its participation in ITM 2024, DVOM hopes to establish itself as a prominent player in the Muslim-friendly retail market.
“We want to showcase the brands that we house as well as attract more brands to collaborate to come into Penang,” shared Song.
Unlike Kuala Lumpur, Penang has fewer Muslim brands. DVOM seeks to
address this gap by attracting more of these brands to the region.
In addition, the mall is proud to showcase its upgraded facilities and recent accomplishments. This includes receiving The Edge Malaysia Best Managed and Sustainable Property Awards 2024 in the retail non-strata category for properties under 10 years. ITM 2024 is an opportunity for DVOM to highlight this achievement.

Besides that, Terompah Spa has a dedicated prayer room where Muslim guests can fulfil their spiritual obligations. The spa also has three additional private rooms, offering guests the privacy they need for comfort and relaxation.
To attract both local and international tourists, Terompah Spa highlights its traditional Malay theme and concept. One of its key offerings is Bertangas, a traditional steam therapy.

natural ingredients such as rose water and coconut oils to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment.
Taking part in ITM 2024 demonstrates the spa’s commitment to supporting ITC’s initiatives to promote Malaysia as a leading destination for Muslim-friendly tourism: “Terompah Spa supports the tourism industry by offering culturally rich and exclusive spa experiences that attract both local and
international visitors,” said Adam Idris, Management Executive of Terompah Spa.
