Halal’s growth trajectory

Highlights of HKTDC’s Food Expo PRO & International Tea Fair

With a growing Muslim population worldwide and increased consumer awareness of halal products, there is an emphasis on entering the halal market.

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) will hold the Food Expo PRO and Hong Kong International Tea Fair from Aug 15-17, 2024 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The event will discuss several aspects of the halal market, including its growth trajectory and identifying business opportunities.

These fairs serve as a comprehensive sourcing platform for importers, wholesalers, retailers, restaurants, department stores, and e-retailers in the food and beverage (F&B) industry. They will exhibit an extensive lineup of globally well-known foods, beverages, teas, and related products.

The first two days are open exclusively for trade buyers, while public ticketholders are welcome on Aug 17. The same venue will hold concurrent public fairs, such as the Food Expo, Beauty & Wellness Expo, and Home Delights Expo, from Aug 15-19.

Overall, the five fairs are anticipated to gather about 2,000 exhibitors collectively.

This year, the Food Expo PRO is expected to be the biggest trade event in Asia for the F&B industry. Exhibitors will come from mainland China, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

The event will discuss several aspects of the halal market, including its growth trajectory and identifying business opportunities.

Additionally, it intends to address the obstacles businesses might face in entering or expanding within the market.

Other attractions include the ‘Food Science and Technology’ zone, which focuses on sustainable diets and cutting-edge food innovations. Discussions will also focus on Hong Kong’s position as a global trade hub for expanding the halal food industry.

In addition, attendees can participate in educational seminars and forums, such as the Food Tech Symposium. The sessions will examine the latest technology developments and innovations in food manufacturing, future food, and sustainability in the food sector.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong International Tea Fair will present various teas, tea-related items, and teaware. Highlights include the first International Tea Event Space Design Competition 2024 to promote tea culture.

Additional attractions include the Hong Kong International Tea Competition and the International and Greater Bay Area KamCha Competition – Final.

Whether exploring the latest trends in halal F&B or learning about the artistry of tea culture through competitions, these fairs offer industry players invaluable insights and networking opportunities.
