The soft launch of KPJ Healthcare Berhad’s new KPJ Ambulatory Care Centre (KPJ ACC) in Bandar Kinrara turned into a flood relief mission for flood victims in Puchong at the Puchong Indah Multipurpose Hall.
Following days of heavy rains that resulted in landslides, building destruction and widespread flooding, KPJ Healthcare pooled its resources to assist flood victims.
As early as 2 am, a team of volunteers from headquarters and KPJ ACC Kinrara stepped forward to help 63 families and over 500 people who had fled their homes to seek shelter at the Puchong Indah Multipurpose Hall.
The team provided medical care to those in need at the shelter and distributed special aid kits containing basic medical supplies such as saliva test kits, dry food, generic medicines, vitamin C supplements, face masks, and basic toiletries.
A lot of help was needed because there were four shelters in the Puchong area. Ariesza Noor, Chief Corporate Officer of KPJ Healthcare Berhad, and her team were constantly monitoring the situation to mobilise more assets should the need arise.
She added that KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital and KPJ Klang Specialist Hospital provided refreshments and temporary shelters in their lobbies at no cost.
“Our medical officers were available at our Accident & Emergency Department (A&E) if they required medical attention,” she added.
