Petronas LNG Ltd., a subsidiary of PETRONAS, has entered an agreement with China’s Shenergy Group Company Limited to export three carbon-neutral liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes from the Petronas LNG Complex in Bintulu, Sarawak.
Between October 2021 and March 2022, Petronas will transport the first carbon-neutral LNG to China to Shenergy’s facilities in Shanghai. Petronas delivered its first carbon-neutral LNG shipment to Japan last month.
Shamsairi Ibrahim, Petronas Vice President of LNG Marketing & Trading, said Petronas was proud to elevate their 15-year partnership with Shenergy, which now includes supplying carbon neutral LNG, reflecting their commitment to offering decarbonised LNG solutions to the market.
“As an integrated energy player, Petronas actively seeks collaborations with buyers and end-users to achieve common sustainability goals.”
Following the initial long-term supply deal with its subsidiary Shanghai LNG Co., Ltd. in 2006, Shenergy remained a major LNG customer and partner for PETRONAS. PETRONAS maintained its position as Shenergy’s chosen LNG solutions supplier when the two companies signed a new 12-year term agreement last year.
